!Source: See Johannes Martelings (1650) !Conflict: Sealed to parents als 9 May 1972 in Ogden and work seems to have been done by relative John Wolf in 1911. !History: Settled in Philipsburgh where he married. He was a blacksmith by trade, was deacon and elder of the church. He was town clerk of Philipsburgh from 1742 to 1747 and a justice of the peace. The old stone and frame house on Hamilton Place, which was torn down about 1897 to make room for the present grade school on the corner of Broadway and Hamilton Place, was probably built by him about 1715 and was his home for the rest of his life. He lies buried directly in the rear of the Sleepy Hollow church. ! |
