!History: John Marteline or Martling born on the Island of St. Eustasius in the Dutch West Indies, came to New York where he married Jan. 20 1675 Aeltje (dau. of Barent) Jans born in Ruinerwold in the province of Drenth. They lived in New York until 1677 when they went to Staten Island. On Sept. 19th he recieved from Governor Andros a grant of 94 acres ay Karl's Neck on the Fresh Kil. He died before 1706. His widow was living in 1709.
