!History: Ken Van Tassel Martling papers say " married Hester perhaps a daughter of Johannes Devoe and his first wife Mary Storm. They were living in Tarrytown in April 1775 but probaably moved to New York that year. According to family tradition, they lived in the city during the early years of the Revolution, but returned to Tarrytown during the war. Later they moved back to the city and in 1789 were living at 85 Front Street. A Mrs. Martling probably his widow was buried 7 Oct 1796. The census of 1790 records him as living in Dock Yard with three sons aand, supposedly two daughters.
