Note
|
From the 1952 Esplin Family Bulletin: In his letter to Grandfather, dated Dumbarton Castle, Nov. 1855, David states that he was married in Ireland in 1848. Knowing this made it possible to get his marriage certificate from the General Register Office in Dublin, Ireland. This gives the date of marriage, maiden name of his wife and her age at the time, and the name of both of their fathers. They were married in the city of Cork at S. Peters Church, Parish of St. Peter. David was a corporal in the Royal Army. Later he went into the grocery business. David also stated that they had a little boy two-and-one-half years old, name after his lost brother who went to Australia to work in the gold mines. Little William would have been born about 1853. |
