Note

From the 1952 Esplin Family Bulletin:

In October 1951 I sent for the death certificate of David Esplin, a saddler, and nephew of Grandfather Esplin. The certificate stated that at the age of fifty-three he was drowned on June 14, 1896 at or near Dundee Harbor, and that his body had not been recovered. The certificate was signed by his widow, Mary Esplin, her maiden name, Gibson. Having found from this certificate the correct parentage of David Esplin, saddler, I sent for their death certificates which gave their death dates. He died at the age of forty-six and she at sixty-seven. Their birth dates, ciphered from these ages vary by two years from those given in the 1951 census reported above. The figures on the death certificate are more likely to be correct. Their place of burial was given and his certificate had been signed by Thomas Wallace, a brother-in-law. His wife's father's name was given, Thomas Webster, a mason, deceased. Her certificate had been signed by William McKay, son-in-law, present.
