From 1952 Esplin family Bulletin: In the letter written by David "Esplin, a saddler (son of Grandfather's brother, George), from Lochee, 10 April 1893, he states that "Uncle Thomas Wallace and Aunt Elizabeth both died last year." Knowing this made it possible to get their death certificates from the General Register Office, New Register House in Edinburgh, Scotland. This gave the exact date, age place, and cause of death. Hers was senile decay and cardiac debility; his was senile decay. It have his father's name and the maiden name of his mother; also her parents' names, showing her to be Grandfather's sister. The origin certificates had been signed by their son, John Wallace who was present at the time of their death. David's letter mentioned six of their children: John and Janet who were still living at the home of their parents in Cragieloch, near "Dundee: Alexander, the oldest, who carried on a meal mill somewhere about Glenisla; David who went to America about sixteen years before; Margaret who was married to a blacksmith who had a place of his own and was doing well; Isabella whose husband was a farm servant, a very steady decent man. |
