Note

Among Grandfather's old letters were three from his brother-in-law, David Annand, Dec. 25 1852, Nov. 28, 1853, and sometime in 1880.
In the first he told about the death of Alexander Esplin. Also he said, "Your father was interred on Tuesday in the Lochee Burying Ground beside my dear little boy, David."
In the second he acknowledged the receipt of Power of Attorney to act for Grandfather, John Esplin, in the settlement of his father's estate.
The third came from Timaru, New Zeland. The family had moved to New Zeland in 1878.
I put an advertisement in the Timaru Herald that I would like to correspond with descendants of David and Isabella Esplin Annand.
I had an answer, written by his wife, from George Annand Hopkins, grandson of David Annand and Isabella Esplin. George's mother is Mary Annand "who married Samuel Hopkins in Timaru and went to live on a small farm at St. Andrews twelve miles south of Timaru." George (born Aug. 1891) can remember his grandparents though they died, within a few days of each other, while he was very young.
George A. Hopkins has a cousin in Timaru. She is the daughter of his Uncle George Annand.
