Job 14:14 If a man die, shall he
live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my
change comes.
15 Thou shall call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire
to the work of thine hands.
Job 19:25 For I know that my redeemer liveth,
and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh
shall I see God:
27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not
another: though my reins be consumed within me.
Isaiah 25:8 He will swallow up death in
victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and
the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth; for
the LORD hath spoken it.
Isaiah 26:19 Thy dead men shall live,
together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that
dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall
cast out the dead.
Matthew 28:2 And, behold, there was a great
earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came
and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
Matthew 28:5 And the angel answered and said
unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was
crucified.
6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place
where the Lord lay.
7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the
dead; and, behold he goeth before you into Galillee; there shall ye see
him: lo, I have told you.
Matthew 28:11 Now when they were going,
behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief
priests all the things that were done.
12 And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken
counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,
13 Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away
while we slept.
14 And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him,
and secure you.
15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this
saying is commonly reported among the jews until this day.
Matthew 28:16 Then the eleven disciples went
away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
Mark 16:5 And entering into the sepulchre, they
saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white
garment; and they were affrighted.
6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of
Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the
place where they laid him.
Mark 16:9 Now when Jesus was risen early the
first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom
he had cast seven devils.
10 And she went and told them that had been with him, as they
mourned and wept.
11 And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been
seen of her, believed not.
Luke 24:3 And they entered in, and found not the
body of the Lord Jesus.
4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout,
behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:
5 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth,
they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?
6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when
he was yet in Galillee,
7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful
men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
Luke 24:13 And, behold, two of them went that
same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about
threescore furlongs.
14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and
reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.
16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.
17 And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these
that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?
18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto
him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the
things which are come to pass there in these days?
19 And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him,
Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and
word before God and all the people:
20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be
condemned to death, and have crucified him.
21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed
Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things
were done.
22 Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished,
which were early at the sepulchre;
23 And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they
had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.
24 And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and
found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.
25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all
that the prophets have spoken:
26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into
his glory?
27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto
them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he
made as though he would have gone further.
29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward
evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.
30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread,
and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.
31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished
out of their sight.
32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us,
while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the
scriptures?
33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and
found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,
34 Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.
35 And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was
known of them in breaking of bread.
Luke 24:36 And as they thus spake, Jesus
himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto
you.
37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they
had seen a spirit.
38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts
arise in your hearts?
39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and
see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his
feet.
41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said
unto them, Have ye here any meat?
42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.
43 And he took it, and did eat before them.
44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto
you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which
were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the
psalms, concerning me.
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand
the scriptures,
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved
Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in
his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
John 16:19 Now Jesus knew that they were
desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves
of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a
little while, and ye shall see me?
20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament,
but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow
shall be turned into joy.
21 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is
come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no
more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
22 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and
your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say
unto you, Whatsover ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it
you.
24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall
receive, that your joy may be full.
25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time
cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall
shew you plainly of the Father.
John 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary
Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth
the stone taken away from the sepulchre.
2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other
disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away
the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid
him.
3 Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to
the sepulchre.
John 20:11 But Mary stood without at the
sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into
the sepulchre,
12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and
the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto
them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they
have laid him.
14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw
Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.
15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou?
She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou
have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take
him away.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto
him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended
unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the
Lord, and that he had spoken these thing unto her.
John 20:19 Then the same day at evening, being
the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples
were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst,
and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his
side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.
21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father
hath sent me, even so send I you.
John 20:24 But Thomas, one of the twelve,
called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the
Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print
of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust
my hand into his side, I will not believe.
26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas
with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the
midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my
hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be
not faithless, but believing.
28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou
hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have
believed.
John 21:12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and
dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing
that it was the Lord.
13 Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish
likewise.
14 This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his
disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.
Acts 1:1 The former treatise have I made, O
Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach.
2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the
Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many
infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the
things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
Acts 2:24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed
the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be
holden of it.
Acts 2:32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof
we all are witnesses.
33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having
received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed
forth this, which ye now see and hear.
Acts 4:33 And with great power gave the apostles
witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon
them all.
Acts 24:15 And have hope toward God, which they
themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead,
both of the just and unjust.
Acts 26:23 That Christ should suffer, and that
he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew
light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.
1 Corinthians 15:4 And that he was
buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the
scriptures:
5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of
whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen
asleep.
7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due
time.
1 Corinthians 15:12 Now if Christ be
preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there
is no resurrection of the dead?
13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not
risen:
14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your
fatith is also vain.
15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have
testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so
be that the dead rise not.
16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:
17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in
your sins.
1 Corinthians 15:20 But now is Christ
risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of
the dead.
23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; after
ward they that are Christ's at his coming.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning,
the firsborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the
preeminence.
Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who
is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the
prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us
from our sins in his own blood,
6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him
be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
2 Nephi 9:4 For I know that ye have
searched much, many of you, to know of things to come; wherefore I know
that ye know that our flesh must waste away and die; nevertheless, in
our bodies we shall see God.
2 Nephi 9:6 For as death hath passed upon all
men, to fulfil the merciful plan of the great Creator, there must needs
be a power of resurrection, and the resurrection must needs come unto
man by reason of the fall; and the fall came by reason of
transgression; and because man became fallen they were cut off from the
presence of the Lord.
7 Wherefore, it must needs be an infinite atonement--save it should
be an infinite atonement this corruption could not put on incorruption.
Wherefore, the first judgment which came upon man must needs have
remained to an endless duration. And if so, this flesh must have laid
down to rot and to crumble to its mother earth, to rise no more.
8 O the wisdom of God, his mercy and grace! For behold, if the flesh
should rise no more our spirits must become subject to that angel who
fell from before the presence of the Eternal God, and became the devil,
to rise no more.
2 Nephi 9:10 O how great the goodness of our
God, who prepareth a way for our escape from the grasp of this awful
monster; yea, that monster, death and hell, which I call the death of
the body, and also the death of the spirit.
11 And because of the way of deliverance of our God, the Holy One of
Israel, this death, of which I have spoken, which is the temporal,
shall deliver up it dead; which death is the grave.
12 And this death of which I have spoken, which is the spiritual
death, shall deliver up its dead; which spiritual death is hell;
wherefore, death and hell must deliver up their dead, and hell must
deliver up its captive bodies, and the bodies and the spirits of men
will be restored one to the other; and it is by the power of the
resurrection of the Holy One of Israel.
13 O how great the plan of our God! For on the other hand, the
paradise of God must deliver up the spirits of the righteous, and the
grave deliver up the body of the righteous; and the spirit and the body
is restored to itself again, and all men become incorruptible, and
immortal, and they are living souls, having a perfect knowledge like
unto us in the flesh, save it be that our knowledge shall be perfect.
Mosiah 15:9 Having ascended into heaven,
having the bowels of mercy; being filled with compassion towards the
children of men; standing betwixt them and justice; having broken the
bands of death, taken upon himself their iniquity and their
transgressions, having redeemed them, and satisfied the demands of
justice.
Mosiah 16:7 And if Christ had not risen from
the dead, or have broken the bands of death that the grave should have
no victory, and that death should have no sting, there could have been
no resurrection.
8 But there is a resurrection, therefore the grave hath no victory,
and the sting of death is swallowed up in Christ.
9 He is the light and life of the world; yea, a light that is
endless, that can never be darkened; yea, and also a life which is
endless, that there can be no more death.
10 Even this mortal shall put on immortality, and his corruption
shall put on incorruption, and shall be brought to stand before the bar
of God, to be judged of him according to their works whether they be
good or whether they be evil--
11 If they be good, to the resurrection of endless life and
happiness; and if they be evil, to the resurrection of endless
damnation, being delivered up to the devil, who hath subjected them,
which is damnation--
Alma 11:41 Therefore the wicked remain as
though there had been no redemption made, except it be the loosing of
the bands of death; for behold, the day cometh that all shall rise from
the dead and stand before God, and be judged accoring to their works.
42 Now, there is a death which is called a temporal death; and the
death of Christ shall loose the bands of this temporal death, that all
shall be raised from this temporal death.
43 The spirit and the body shall be reuited again in its perfect
form; both limb and joint shall be restored to its proper frame, even
as we now are at this time: and we shall be brought to stand before
God, knowing even as we know now, and have a bright recollection of all
our guilt.
44 Now, this restoration shall come to all, both old and young, both
bond and free, both male and female, both the wicked and the righteous;
and even there shall not so much as a hair of their heads be lost; but
every thing shall be restorred to its perfect frame, as it is now, or
in the body, and shall be brought and be arraigned before the bar of
Christ the Son, and God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, which is one
Eternal God, to be judged according to their works, whether they be
good or whether they be evil.
45 Now, behold, I have spoken unto you concerning the death of the
mortal body, and also concerning the resurrection of the mortal body, I
say unto you that this mortal body is raised to an immortal body, that
is from death, even from the first death unto life, that they can die
no more; their spirits uniting with their bodies, never to be divided;
thus the whole becoming spiritual and immortal, that they can no more
see corruption.
Alma 40:2 Behold, I say unto you, that there is
no resurrection--or, I would say, in other words, that this mortal does
not put on immortality, this corruption does not put on incorruption
--until after the coming of Christ.
3 Behold, he bringeth to pass the resurrection of the dead. But
behold, my son, the resurrection is not yet. Now, I unfold unto you a
mystery; nevertheless, there are many mysteries which are kept, that no
one knoweth them save God himself. But I show unto you one thing which
I have inquired diligently of God that I might know--that is concerning
the resurrection.
4 Behold, there is a time appointed that all shall come forth from
the dead. Now when this time cometh no one knows; but God knoweth the
time which is appointed.
3 Nephi 11:8 And it came to pass, as they
undrstood they cast their eyes up again towards heaven; and behold,
they saw a Man descending out of heaven; and he was clothed in a white
robe; and he came down and stood in the midst of them; and the eyes of
the whole multitude were turned upon him, and they durst not open their
mouths, even one to another, and wist not what it meant for they
thought it was an angel that had appeared unto them.
9 And it came to pass that he stretched forth his hand and spake
unto the people saying:
10 Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come
into the world.
11 And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have
drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have
glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the
which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the
beginning.
Moroni 7:41 And what is it they ye shall hope
for? Behold I say unto you that ye shall have hope through the
atonement of Christ and the power of his resurrection, to be raised
unto life eternal, and this because of your faith in him according to
the promise.
D&C 76:22 And now, after the many testimonies
which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which
we give of him: That he lives!
23 For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the
voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father--
24 That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were
created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters
unto God.
Colossians 1:17 And he is before all things,
and by him all things consist.
